Do you want to read a good review of this? Check out Greil Marcus' book, Ranters & Crowd Pleasers, and read the chapter entitled "Life after Death". Ranters & Crowd Pleasers is a collection of Marcus' writings over the 70s, 80s and 90s about various bands he's seen live. In 1981, Marcus was there at the I-Beam and wrote about New Order's post-Joy Division performance. A good read as it captures a historic moment in time.
