Just received my copy of Mojo magazine and Bernard, Steve and Gillian are on the cover. Also comes with a potentially dodgy PCL covers cd. Haven't checked the article yet. I'm quite pleased though!

"Out of illness, paranoia and conflict, the Manchester godfathers of electronic music are back, restored and strengthened, to add another chapter to their grand saga. Ian Harrison speaks to the band and their estranged bassist to find a new vitality charging through the old circuits."

I see that all four of them are interviewed, I can't wait to read that..& an article on Low aswell and as if that isn't enough - Billy Corgan speaks!!
I'm off to the newsagents..

He reminded them of the man who jumped off the roof of a tall building and halfway down observed: "It looks good so far."

I just buy it as a collectors item, I could always take a black marker and cross that word out if I want to.

5 copies? If you're not taking the piss then you seriously need help. At a push I can understand buying two copies; one to keep in mint condition and one to read and tut-tut at the nasty mans language, but 5??!! FFS.

The covers cd is actually ok. the best way i can describe it is a very stoned PCL.

Highlights include a cover of Ecstacy by Walls which is pretty moody and strange and a cover of Cries and Whispers by Lonelady (there are bonus tracks too, Lonesome Tonight and Murder feature also).
Leave Me Alone by Destroyer pretty good too. Certainly worth a listen anyways. As always with these things pretty hit and miss.

Actually i quite like the cover of Lonesome Tonight even though i suddenly realised it sounds a blt like Coldplay! just try and ignore that!

Wasted trip . Though i did buy on impulse 3 bottles of white wine, a bottle of JD Whisky and a pork pie. And pie and chips on the way home

Yeah, The one with The Stones on the cover is still the current one here too but at least it's something to look forward to...

So the CD is all covers is it? Nothing at all perfomed by the band themselves? Seems a shame. The Japanese 7" of Blue Monday (if it exists) would have been nice. Oh hang on, Hooky has all those in his wardrobe so he'd probably put a block on that anyway Mallet
I couldnt get this issue in WH Smiths in North london today either, so yeah the subscribers appear to have first dibs on this one.

you would wonder at any self respecting band doing a cover cd like that especially when the band they are doing is still going but i suppose my bias against cover bands will always come through.
I supposes its giving the people what they want.

I will probably listen to the CD once if even that, maybe the bands concerned just want to get some publicity by whatever means are available,if these magazines didn't include CDs which may end up never being listened to anyway they would be a whole lot cheaper and would achieve higher sales..
(I still wouldnt buy 5 copies though) Crazy

Much better thank you. Perhaps BS would like to send this version to a certain ex-member?

BTW did anyone see the Smiths competition question on the Mojo site:
Which Smiths cover star appeared on the sleeve of three different Smiths singles?
Is this a trick question? Could it be James Dean? Terrence Stamp appeared on two different pressings of the same single (with Mozza on the pressings inbetween). But really I'm stumped.scratch

This is pretty much standard policy for MOJO and I suspect they arrange the whole thing. If you want their front cover you gotta take the covermount CD too. Not so bad.

Uncut - the new one out in shops from Jan 4 is carrying a 4 page feature on Dec Hickey's book Heaven to Heaven, so another one to look out for.
