This is news to me and I hope it is to you too. Not sure how I like Bernard not being lead singer, but we'll see what it's like I suppose!

From NME: "New Order's Bernard Sumner has announced details of his new band Bad Lieutenant's debut album.

Formed in 2007 alongside former Marion man (and New Order guitarist) Phil Cunningham and newcomer Jake Evans, Bad Lieutenant release 'Never Cry Another Tear' on October 5.

Evans is the group's lead vocalist, and Sumner was quick to praise the Macclesfield-born musician in a statement.

"We've worked hard on it [the album] and I'm proud of it. It's also important because it gives people the chance to hear a gifted new singer and guitar player who I think's really talented," he said.

The band spent a year writing, recording and mixing the album on the outskirts of Manchester, calling on some famous friends to help out - including Blur's Alex James and New Order/Joy Division drummer Stephen Morris.

Debut single 'Sink Or Swim' is scheduled for release on September 21.

The band are also expected to tour, with Morris and bassist Tom Chapman completing the live line-up."

news to me too. I was reading this month's Mojo which has an interview with Barney, and he says that Evans only sings on three tracks. A misquote perhaps?

Thank goodness, if he sang on the whole album I think I would like it less, no offense to anyone.

Not in a million years would I have believed it. Barney is not the lead singer.....

What is this a test post to see if we are all still alive???

Anyhow, I quite like Evans voice on the Rambo and Leroy stuff.....

This could be interesting.

The one time I post a bit of news it's followed by a superior bit of press, but still glad I saw it this morning. So whose the other drummer if it's not Stephen doing it all? I wonder if Bernard just decided go with a drum machine instead.

Great news. As long as Barney sings on some of the tracks, Ill be happy.

Bit of random trivia. This was on a recent Jacko docu. It is alleged that a male vocalist is at their peak between the ages of 35 and 50.

Maybe Barney no longer feels like singing all the time. Maybe thats dud info. Im no expert.

Well I think there is alot of mis information, even on the front of this site one article says "Bad Lieutenant formed in 2007 with New Order’s Bernard Sumner (guitar and vocals) alongside Phil Cunningham (guitar) and Jake Evans (guitar and vocals). " and next to it it says "Frontman Bernard Sumner, drummer Stephen Morris and guitarist Phil Cunningham have joined with Blur’s Alex James for Bad Lieutenant’s debut album." Jakes not even mentioned in the second article. So I think the article that says he sings on 3 tracks is correct.

As for live songs to play, I do hope he plays songs from his career. So New order, Electronic and BL. And he does know how to sing "Getting away with it" again!

This is good news! I'm looking forward to it.

All along Bernard has implied that he is sharing the load of work with the other guy. Sort of a Monoaco type of deal.

Seriously, how big do you think this will be? This will get smaller attention than the third Electronic album. Will the single(s) get much attention? Do you really expect much of a tour? Bernard doesn't like to tour anyway and other than festivals and a few spots they would have to play smaller venues/clubs... is Bernard willing to go back on the club circuit? It's hard to believe.
