Saw them at Belle Vue, Manchester with New Order, A Certain Ratio and a bag full of other bands. Don't remember the date but it must have been quite early. Got the ticket somewhere, I'll try and dig it out.

They allegedly did a Japanese tour in 1990 (with A Guy Called Gerald as support), although I have yet to find evidence of this...

Hiya

They played Iceland in March 1990 and also Amsterdam just before that. Not sure of the exact dates but they were before G-mex. They went with the Brain Club with A Guy Called Gerald to Iceland. MTV did a feature on them being there. cheers

...been meaning to contibute to this thread for a while - as I also did loads of Mondays gigs in the late '80s.
I've listed below gigs which I definitely was at - I've been looking at the recordings I have and cross-matching to the gigography.
I'm also aware that I probably saw them on a number of occasions that I don't remember - the NO dates at Leed Tiffanys, Tower Ballroom, and the Hacienda (
the 2 sets night in Dec 85 - presumably before the 2nd set?). Also caught them few times on the James tour late '88 - Trent Poly for one.

03/05/87 Camden Black Horse
10/02/88 London ULU
27/10/88 London Astoria
09/01/89 London Dingwalls
14/01/89 Manchester Uni.
10/02/89 London ULU
27/02/89 Birmingham Irish Centre
28/02/89 Leeds Warehouse
13/03/89 Bristol Poly
14/03/89 London Astoria
17/03/89 Dublin Macgonagles
22/03/89 Paris
03/05/89 Kilburn National
08/05/89 Manchester Hacienda
09/05/89 Manchester Hacienda
15/11/89 Bradford Queens Hall
16/11/89 Newcastle Uni
17/11/89 Widnes Queens Hall
22/11/89 Birmingham Hummingbird
24/11/89 Bristol Uni
25/11/89 London Town & Country
27/11/89 Brighton Top Rank
01/12/89 Leicester Ploy
03/12/89 Cambridge Corn Exchange
09/12/89 Glasgow Uni

A couple of potential updates to the gigography:
- Dublin - was definitely St Paddys - 17th March - remember flying over on a Friday night - the place was half empty, but I remember speaking to Nathan who
was made up that anyone had bothered to travel to see the band.
- Leicester Poly - March '89 - pretty sure this was cancelled - as I found out having driven from London on a Friday evening only to drive home again.
- Leeds Poly - Nov '89 - also have a note in an old diary which says this was cancelled(? )
- Paris - I'm not 100% when this was but don't think I went in '90 - it was a dodgy club in the red light district but I don't remember MBV on the bill. The set list ( Do It Better, Bring A Friend, Tart Tart, Russell, Moving In With, Performance, Mad Cyrill, 24Hr PP, WFL) would place it as early '89 - wish I could remember more.

Glasgow was the last time I saw the Mondays - we went down to the Cotton Club (?) for the end of tour aftershow and the end of that era for me anyway...hard to believe 20 years have passed.

Does anyone remember the near riot at this one?.. I sometimes wonder if i imagined it, but the crowd stormed the stage towards the end of the set and it ended up turning into a mass brawl amongst the crowd and band members, with police being called in on horseback.

I remember it being mentioned on Capital Radio the next day, as a Chris Tarrant breakfast funny, as i went to school.laugh

Please tell me I'm not mad. Someone.

I know for sure the Mondays played in Toronto before the 1990 gig. It would have been in 1989 and it was with the Pixies. I believe it was at a place called the Apocalypse Club.

Did King of the Slums support them at this gig?
I don't remember a mass brawl, I was on stage or just off stage for most of their set.
I was in a right messy state and I remember a bit of carnage on the stage but don't recall it kicking off.
But as I say...I was a bit messy.
