Apart form changing your e-mail address not really.
I often experience the same problem when uploading photos: i.e. It saying "a photograph with that name already exists" (and I know damn well it doesn't) so I've got to fart about changing the photo's name until it accepts it.
I know you can't change an e-mail address as easily but maybe just keep trying (sometimes it'll eventually accept photo's it's previously rejected.)
