Delete really old threads.
Keep PM's (essential for the weeding forum)
Probably get rid of 'friends' (never liked that show anyway)

Make it so if you are not logged in and click on 'reply' once you have then logged in it takes you straight back to the replying to a thread box instead of then having to hit the back button twice and click on 'reply' again.

>Get rid of PM's- Do communication through forums.

>Get rid of chatrooms- The whole site is a chatroom.

>Get rid of the blogs- They don't seem to sit well, unless they are generating additional traffic and ad revenue.

>>>Re; Old posts. Allow individuals the ability to delete their own posts en masse; at the moment you have to do it one by one which is pretty painful. People should be allowed to delete their own stuff and their is probably a legal grounds to this as well with the privacy laws around.

>>>I don't support the auto delete of the archives. Like other people have said they are useful and interesting from a historical and research point of view.

The pm's and the chatroom allow for some privacy,
which you actually mention later when you are talking about being able to delete posts.Shrug

If you don't like the chatroom don't go in,
better have it than have the boards filled up with chit chat, there is more than enough of that on bcd as it is.

The PM's were introduced as away to cut down on members leaving messages for just one or two peoples attention on the boards,
as not everyone wants to share their email address and the PM's mean you don't have to.

Never NEVER get rid of the chatroom. It prevents many of us who would otherwise post several ridiculous messages on BCD cluttering up the boards.
The Chatroom IS used. Mainly by around 10 people, on and off, but there's nothing to stop others joining in. One of the features of NOOL that I enjoy most Thumb's Up!

Good points... Actually after I posted this I wondered to myself how two individuals would manage to communicate privately if PM's and the chatrooms were nuked.

Definitely keep one or the other then... PM's would be my choice.

If we each had the option to kick out everyone we didn't get along with there'd be absolutely no one left here after the cull! eek!

I like that idea, it will help whenever I get round to doing my final blogs for the last tour. If anyone can remember what I was uptae, send us pics and a mail laugh

ALSO, can you reformat the forums to allow replying to individual comments? It's really a pain to be reading through a post and have huge chunks of previous comments quoted just so two or three people can follow a conversation. LiveJournal and forums like The Huffington Post do it:

----------sub-comment-comment

...and so on.
