There's still the next, improved Greatest Hits album and the long awaited release of Blue Monday 08 to look forward to, though... Snorri xxx

XFM is quite close to NME, of course they share news texts... "But it’s like the boy who cried wolf this time" This is an interesting phrase... it can mean two things: 1 "This time nobody's going to believe we've really split" 2 "But if we get a good offer we may play some festival" Anyway, what's he doing with Farrell, didn't he have Freebass to keep him busy? If this split is really permanent of course I'm sorry, but when band members get older than 50 it just has to happen sooner or later, unless you're Steely Dan and can still do your best music ever (actually they do take their time between an album and the follower, and actually WFTSC was one of New Order's best albums ever)... it's just us all growing older, we can do nothing to stop this... the fact it's 20 years since True Faith is simply frightening itself... Now we can still look forward to those unreleased tracks from the WFTSC sessions, to whatever Hooky will do, hoping that Bernard will still do something too, I can't see him retiring, while I'm afraid that, with Gillian at home, an Other Two reunion is quite unlikely, looks more like Steve will stay at home too, though I can see him getting involved in the odd production job once in a while... It's not as if its the first time they have split, maybe it is the last time. I can really only hope at this point they 'tie up the loose ends' and put out the leftover songs from WFTSC as a coda, and maybe come back in a while.

I know we've been here before & I didn't want to start another thread about old news, but I was in a rush when I posted it,so let me clarify. It was secondhand information from a non-N.O. fan who was scanning his mp3 radio & heard that Bernard had announced that they were no more. That's it,pure & simple,so just posted it quick to see if anyone could delve a bit deeper or had heard anything themselves, maybe Tim or Spotnick using their in-the-know contacts to shed some light. Let's face it,we know it's coming,& the relationship between Hooky & Barney seems to be strained to say the least( I've never heard Hooky quite this despondant before),& a lot of us don't want them to become a doddering, pathetic O.A.P. embarrassment that is The Creaking Bones. So maybe this is the best way to bow out I'm still fookin' choked mind

How many bands do 'farewell' gigs in their home towns then?! In fact, how many bands do 'farewell' gigs at all? Most just split with the minimum of fuss, bar the manufactured likes of boy bands, or what-have-you. Think it's been mentioned enough times here already though. They were lined up for Manc as part of that new festival in June/July. And turned it down. I dunno, maybe all the fuss about 'Control' will bring 'em back together? Who's to say?! And then one last gig in London, natch: home of the hardcore! Not this year though, got too many other things on the go. Still, no use crying over split milk. It was fun while it lasted. Had to happen one day.. . Edited by: El Jarvo on 04/05/2007 5:04:14 PM - 5:04:14 PM
