They are diffrent languages,although alike,and we can understand each other easily,probably becuse we used to livein the same country. But evey Croat will tell you thet they are two different languages,grammatical rueles differ,and parts of the vocabulary as well.

and croatian is written in the latin alphabet, while serbian is written in cyrillic, correct?

Both alphabets are equally used in Serbia and Montenegro. This is due to history as one part of population was under the influence of Austria-Hungary and the other part was under the influence of the Byzantine Empire, while the Croatians use the Latin alphabet only.

This is how the spanish/portuguese forum started.. they were both together and posters put the language in the title... when they were popular enough, we splitted them.
