Mine would be Sub Sub's "This Time I'm Not Wrong" because I love Barney's vocal and the suitably rocking backing provided by soon-to-be Doves. Having said that Beat Club's "Security" and ACR's "Won't stop loving you" definitely stand out as quality early-90s dance records for me with the 12" mix of WSLY sounding like a stripped back and hypnotic drum machine test; nice one Barney! The Chemical's "Out Of Control" isnae bad either and probably Barney's most famous collaboration outside of New Order/Electronic. A timely reminder (before Get Ready) of how great New Order could be even though it wasn't a New Order record! On the other hand I don't really care for his bizarre jam with Primal Scream too close to Rock The Shack territory for me. It'll be interesting to see what everyone thinks of Barney's various collaborations outside of his two main bands MAKEBONO HISTORY - Burn the records, wear the wristband...

Out of Control- I couldn't stop percolating to the intro beats (it's a dance move)

What about Marcel King's Reach for Love?!
Barney's production (along with DoJo) is pitch perfect soulful electro boogie. The sound of a hot summer's night in 1984.
Lovely, lovely track, it's up there with Security, Won't Stop Loving You, and Looking from a Hilltop.

Yep- There's a lot of Barney heavy Bemusic stuff missing from the list... Personally I loved those albums he did with Curtis, Hook and Morris... ...seriously though... it's either OUT OF CONTROL or SHOOTSPEED/KILLLIGHT. Not heard the SubSub thing, which I'd love to get hold of as AINT NO LOVE AINT NO USE is one of my all time fave dance tracks!

The BeMusic artists weren't included in the poll options for the following reasons: 1. I couldn't be arsed typing out 2 albums worth of song titles along with the current list; once a poll goes beyond ten options it gets a bit silly. If your favourite Barney collaboration happens to come from either BeMusic compilation then feel free to vote for "Other (?)" and, if you like, post briefly which one it is. 2. BeMusic wasn't just Barney, it was an alias used by all four members of New Order with Hooky using it in the first instance. Not to say Barney wasn't responsible for a sizeable chunk of the music on the BeMusic compilations of course. Hope that clears that up... as ever and forever wrote: | | She's out of control I'm afriad. it is great. Though Barney's vocals are editted - but not completely - Sasha's Dub is brilliant. Alas it is only available on blue vinyl on the US Promo. Well worth hunting down mind. |

I did a conversion of the 12" Sasha Club Mix (the Mix on the CD single is an Edit) to CDR when I bought it back in 99 but haven't heard the Dub. I bet it's available on some massively expensive promo CD somewhere MAKEBONO HISTORY - Burn the records, wear the wristband...
