Selina's, Sydney, Australia (1987)

New Order Selinas 1987

I can not begin to describe the impact this concert had on me. I alredy was a New Order fan for over a year, this really sealed it for me. To put it simply they blew me away. Me and a mate had staked our postions right before Mr Hook. We were close enough for him to hit us in the head with his bass if he so desired. So, we watched on in awe and some trepidation.

It was an awsome experience, the still blue lights providing a slightly eerie atmosphere, Barney's pelvic thrust gyrations, and that awesome powerful music. My favourite band playing my favourite songs. What more could one ask for. And some we didn't know like an early version of Touched By The Hand Of God (it hadn't yet been released). All I remember of that is that Barney. repeated "touched, touched" a lot.

To sum it up this was a top gig.

On an interesting side note, Barney apparently ended up in a dumster outside his hotel that night. If only i had stayed up that bit longer. My hotel was just down the road.
